Our mum of this week doesn’t really need an introduction! The beloved and well-known TV and Radio host, extremely charming and artistic Olga Shelest with two of her daughters - Muse and Iris. We of course remember Olya as a host of multiple TV shows on MTV Russia, MUZ-TV, STS as well as a radio host of the Mayak station and a VJ and a journalist. Smiles and witty jokes in the early morning TV Show ‘Vigorous Morning’ became legendary all over the country. At the moment Olya is hosting yet another fascinating and fun Disney channel TV show “This is My Room’, where she helps the kids change their rooms. But her main accomplishment of course are her two wonderful little girls - Muse and Iris. Olya shared with us some of their achievemnts: the older one Muse (2,9 years old) is currently learning to snowboard, loves to swim, draw and read books, while her little sister Iris is ‘an engineer soul’, she loves little details, buttons and springs and likes to assemple and disassemble things with an infectious smile on her face, which she most definitely got from her mum!
The questions are answered by Olga herself and her older daughter Muse.
1. If you had a superpower, what would it be?
O: Reading peoples’ minds!
M: I want to be able to fly like a bird.
2. What is your favourite sweet treat?
O: Dried kumquats.
M: Strawberry ice cream.
3. What is your favourite cartoon or fiction charachter?
O: Ellie the mammoth, that I dubbed in the Ice Age!
M: Peppa Pig!
4. What would you never wear?
O: Real fur.
M: A moustache!
5. What can there be never too much of in a woman’s wordrobe?
O: Shoes.
M: Princess dresses!
6. Olga, do you have some kind of special culinary secret?
When it comes to food I have one great trick - add something favourite to something not very tasty! For example, I add raisins to oat porridge, and the kids end up eating the whole porridge while looking for them without even realising it. I also add goat’s cheese, very much loved by my older daughter, to the not so much loved yet very healthy pumpkin soup. It disappears in a blink of an eye!
7. Can you tell us more about your other motherhood tricks?
I have a special make up bag for my daughters, that comes in very handy every time I get ready for work. The girls see how I do my hair and make up and always beg me for brushes and lipsticks and powerds. I can’t give away expensive products, and make up for kids doesn’t really excite them, they want the same lipstick as mummy! That’s why I came up with this idea of putting the products and make up that I’m not using anymore, like eyeshadows and brushes, and hand it to them to have fun doing their make up with me. Thye get so into it that it gives me an opportunity to get ready properly. Afterwards all of their artistic self expressions can be easily removed with wet wipes for kids, and of course all the product must be hypoallergenic.
8. Can you tell us about how you spend your free time with the kids?
We love to play outside in the yeard and we always come up with new games! We recently came up with one called ‘find a way home’. The process starts creatively: the player has to draw obsticles such as various preditors like snakes, sharks or lions. And then the player has to get home over the opbsicles and not fall down into the swamp. It’s fun and slightly scary :)
9. Olga, what would you pick for your daughters at the FIVE KIDS store?
My older daughter Muse absolutely adores clothes with animals, I’m pretty sure she knows all of the animals on planet Earth. That’s why when we looked through the website and came across the deer print Mini Rodini, we fell in love! After csrolling some more and Muse forgot about all the dresses and picked the Stella McCartney swimsuit, because swimming is what Muse enjoys the most! For little Iris we picked a cute silver-grey hoodie with bunny ears #MUMOFSIX.
